Hi. We're building a bug and issue tracker and you can watch.

Application Interface Design

Last year, I did a presentation about the issue tracker at Webmaster Jam Session in Dallas, TX. This morning, I went though, made some updates, and added audio to the presentation for anyone who's interested. It's basically a quick peak behind the scenes of the design process. You can download the file, or you should be able to watch it directly in the browser. It does have audio, so make sure you're sporting those headphones if you're going to watch it with other people around.

Of course, comments and feedback are always welcome. Is this something that we should do more often, or are the written posts better?

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have a whole collection of slides lying around here, but always miss the audio, or visa versa.

Thanks for doing this!

This is very welcome, as I was unable to attend the jam session, but wanted to hear your presentation. Thank you!

Garrett,

You made my day. After talking to you about the poor quality audio, I was down in the dumps.

BTW, is this your new microphone? It sounds great.

Josh

Great thanks! Been looking at the presentation for months- can't wait to listen to this!

Really interesting, never got bored! I'm glad you took the time to put together this presentation and i will look forward too see more of this.

Josh - Yes, that's the new mic. It seems to do the trick so far, and I didn't expect to just be able to plug and play with USB, but sure enough, it was a breeze.

Great presentation. Thanks for sharing!

And one off-topic question: what fonts did you use in the slides? The fat one looks like Frutiger, but I think I see some small differences?

Wait, it is Myriad, right? The other ones are harder to guess.

Matthijs - It's Myriad Pro and Marydale.

Hi Garrett, I've been reading your personal blog since shortly after you redesigned it, and I've been very impressed with everything you've posted both there and here. I'm also a software developer with a strong interest in design and user interaction, and it's been very interesting and inspiring reading your posts. Plus, it's all designed so well it's a pleasure just to look at. I look forward to your future posts and to seeing your bug tracker in action. Thanks for the inspiration so far.

Hey Garrett, I caught the presentation at WMJS, and loved it. Can't wait to see the app when it launches. Best of luck.

Is it just me, or is the audio only in the left channel? I get left-channel dominant with both headphones and the MBP speakers. I keep thinking Garrett is standing right behind and a little to my left. Stop it!
